Candace Newell

Biography
Candace N. Newell is Of Counsel at Daly & Black, P.C., where her practice focuses on personal injury, civil rights, and the representation of municipalities. Her litigation work centers on holding negligent parties accountable and protecting individual rights.
In addition to her practice at Daly & Black, Candace serves as a Louisiana State Representative for House District 99, a position she has held since January 2020. Her time in the Legislature has given her firsthand experience navigating public policy, regulatory compliance, and government relations, an added dimension she brings to her representation of municipal clients.
Before entering private practice, Candace built her career on a foundation of public service. She worked as a teacher at France Gaudet Elementary, East New Orleans Education Center, and the High School District Learning Center. She began her career in government as an intern with the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, later serving as a legislative aide in the Louisiana State Senate and to Representative Wesley Bishop, where she gained experience in constituent services, legislative research, and public policy development.
