Jay O’Bryant
Attorney

Biography
Jay O’Bryant is a Senior Associate at Daly & Black. He is a native Houstonian. Raised by a physician-turned-CEO, Jay grew up immersed in both medicine and business. While he finds both fields fascinating, his favorite subject has always been writing.
Jay is a proud Longhorn with a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin. While at Texas, he wrote, directed, and produced numerous full-length original plays. He was also a member of the University’s oldest improv comedy troupe and now performs with a professional troupe in Houston. Both on stage and in the courtroom, Jay is a natural storyteller.
Jay earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston, where he excelled in Moot Court and Mock Trial and received numerous writing awards. Upon graduation, he was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Scribes. As an attorney, Jay has handled a wide range of commercial and personal injury cases at both the trial and appellate levels, successfully advancing his clients’ interests in courtrooms and on appeal.
Jay joined Daly & Black because he is committed to holding negligent parties accountable. As a former defense attorney specializing in health care liability and personal injury, he brings valuable insight into how companies evaluate and defend claims. He understands how for-profit entities leverage the law to minimize payouts when their negligence harms people.
In addition to his trial work, Jay is an experienced appellate lawyer who understands the nuances required to protect a client’s rights at every stage of litigation. While advocating with the charisma and resilience of a trial lawyer, he applies the precision, discernment, and intellect of an appellate practitioner.
At Daly & Black, Jay uses his experience to stay one step ahead of defendants in the fight for his clients. He cares deeply about equity and dignity and is grateful for every opportunity to advocate for injured individuals. Approaching his work with equal parts commitment, creativity, and common courtesy, Jay attributes his success to his training and upbringing: he was raised to work hard and be kind; he was trained to win.
