Sylvia Zuniga-Vargas has been a paralegal for over 30 years and is passionate about the type of work she is involved with on a daily basis. Helping people is important to her and this is one reason she is excited to be a part of the Daly & Black, P.C. team.
Before joining Daly & Black, P.C., Sylvia was employed at the Juranek Law Firm where she assisted in the handling of personal injury cases from claim status to all phases of litigation. Sylvia also had the opportunity of working at Caddell & Chapman, a well-respected Plaintiffs’ boutique law firm, where she assisted with the firm’s mass tort docket involving more than 100 Ford/Firestone clients from Venezuela and Mexico. Sylvia, who is bilingual and has vast experience in client communications, assisted in securing critical evidence and obtaining discovery responses from clients.
Sylvia was also the lead paralegal working with the firm’s 26 clients in the BP explosion matter that involved heavy client communication, securing discovery, assisting in securing workers’ compensation benefits, and negotiating a reduction of Medicare liens. Prior to that, Sylvia was employed at Fleming & Associates where she took the lead paralegal role of overseeing approximately 200 Sulzer hip implant cases that involved heavy client communication, communication with the claims administrator, attorneys, and physicians to secure and obtain accurate claim documentation, review and summarize medical records, and document organization.
Sylvia was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, but has called Houston her home for over 29 years. She graduated summa cum laude from Letourneau University with a Bachelor of Business Management. She also attained a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Texas Paralegal School.
Sylvia is an avid animal lover. While her three cats and two dogs are rescue pets, Sylvia can be heard saying how they rescued her as they have provided so much unconditional love. These furry and extremely pampered pets reside with Sylvia and her husband, Mario.
Besides spending time with her husband and beloved four-legged friends, Sylvia enjoys hiking, running, gardening, and physical fitness.
