Biography
Marylou Adolfsson is the accountant for Daly and Black. She comes with a wide variety of work and life experiences. Born in Manilla Philippines, she immigrated to the USA with a Swedish husband, a newborn daughter, and 4 suitcases. Once settled into Houston, her career and interests began to blossom. Accounting has been her chosen career path, with many years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry as well as in non-profit charitable companies.
Marylou graduated with an accounting degree from Letran College in Manila, Philippines. She also studied at The Culinary Institute Lenotre Houston, Texas, where she graduated with the highest honors. She owned and operated her own restaurant. Her life-long love of dance led to the teaching of Zumba classes. A very compassionate person by nature, she has spent time volunteering with senior citizens. Today she has managed to combine her Zumba experience and love for seniors into a perfect part-time gig…teaching Chair Zumba and Drum Fit at the Forum at Memorial Woods Retirement Community! Marylou is multi-lingual. She speaks 3 languages fluently -Tagalog, English, and Swedish.
Marylou has 30+ years of Strategic Accounting, Finance and Auditing experience. Other areas of expertise include Human Resources, Benefits Administration and Payroll. Her monthly and year-end closing reports can be used to make important management decisions quickly and accurately. She has developed and adjusted audit plans based on risk management of a company’s compliance. She also trained employees on ERP systems such as SAP FICO and other accounting areas. Her love of Excel, makes her accounting work easy on a day-to-day basis.
Accuracy and integrity are always her strong points. Her motto/beliefs she applies to life are: “Be Humble, Be Grateful, and Work hard”.
