Maria Villarreal attained her vast experience while working for several reputable firms in Houston.
Prior to joining Daly & Black, P.C. in 2019, Maria was employed with law firms that specialized in family law and personal injury law. She also had a 13-year career with a firm that specialized in Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation and Defense Base Act where her expertise was vital in coordinating and facilitating client benefits and filings, as well as being a liaison between the firm’s Spanish-speaking clients and its attorneys given her fluency in Spanish. Knowing she was an integral part of the process in making the clients feel at ease and in receiving some form of judicial justice, gave her a great sense of contentment.
As an Administrative Assistant for the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, Maria was responsible for the daily case management of statistical data for pathologists and forensic nurse specialists, which included coordinating with various agencies to obtain critical documents such as police and arson reports, CPS and APS reports, medical records, as well as dispensing critical information to grieving families. Working at the institute certainly gave Maria a new perspective given that she believes “she has seen it all.”
Taking a case from inception to completion is extremely gratifying to Maria. Her many duties include, but are not limited to, heavy client communications, handling oral and written bilingual translations and interpretations, maintaining large case dockets, which included Hurricane Harvey claims, calendaring, drafting legal documents, e-filings in both state and federal courts.
Being an active member for Commit for Life since 2014 is easy for Maria. Similar to her passion for helping clients’ needs, she is also passionate about saving lives. Helping others is a gift she will treasure forever.
In her spare time, Maria enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
